Women on The Verge
The debut of my SS16 collection was a proud moment for me. Staged at my design studio in the heart of New York’s Flatiron district, the presentation was host to key stylists and editors from esteemed publications including WWD, Vogue, V Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar.
Styled by Karl Templer at our look book shoot the previous day, my vision for this coming Spring embraces a cool palette in navy, ivory and cerise. I used the clean architectural influence of American Modernism as a basis for the line. Geometric shapes came to form with jet beading, accent zippers and lace. Lean proportions with definitive lines commingled with color blocking and contrasting textures.
I took inspiration from the 90s film noir classics “La Femme Nikita” and “The Grifters”. Both are films that feature “women on the verge”…of self-discovery and pushing past previously accepted limits. You will wear these clothes. They will not wear you. I design for a modern woman who’s a mover and a shaker and I’m confident this collection will be embraced just as we all embrace new adventures, challenges and opportunities.
